Pirivom Sandhippom

A family drama directed by Karu Palaniappan starring Cheran and Snega after Autograph. Director is coming back with this movie after Parthiban kanavu and sivapathigaram, which gained him name and fame. Vidyasagar melodies move your heart. Director has tried his best to bring you a good story.

Cheran is brought up in a joint family consisting nearly thirty members in and around karaikudi. The story is being built in a typical chettiar family (A caste in Tamil Nadu living in a place called karaikudi and its surrounding, famous for its delicious cuisine).
Snega, a girl of same community is brought up as a single girl in the family. Like any other traditional family, Snega is arranged to marry Cheran. Snega accepts to marry him impressed by his big family and loving relatives. They get married and move into the family. Cheran expects privacy at his big home, but his wife is much happy in satisfying the elders of the house. Frustrated by her attitude, cheran gets himself transferred to a hill station and moves there. Snega is forced to be alone. She gets disturbed by the loneliness and desperately wants to get back. To avoid the loneliness she starts behaving mischievous. How cheran finds the problem and gets back to the own family is the climax of the story.

Songs are done beautifully depicting a typical chettiar family. Last song before the climax could have been avoided. Lyrics of all songs are genuinely in tamil language and make you relish. Apart from that you don’t feel bored in songs. Director must have concentrated much more in the second half. Cheran’s role and his character is also not established clearly. Some logic reasons for heroine’s loneliness could have created greater depth among the audience. You don’t feel moved in any scene or you don’t feel sorry for the heroine in any part of the movie. Little more concentration could have got a lot more rewards for the director.

Bhaskar played the role of cheran’s uncle. His character was neatly portrayed which was very different and I enjoyed most. He is a bachelor in the movie; a follower of Kavignar Kannadhasan always talks about his songs and tamil literature. He tries to explain thiruppugazh to erattai pulavargal and ends up in vain.

Ultimately the movie has tried its best to be different among the commercial blockbusters but fails to achieve its goal since it’s not narrated in depth.
